Mid year Break

Goodness gracious.. God knows I needed my Midyear break. However, here I am, in school doing work.

Many people have the mentality that being a teacher is all goodness. Long holidays, MArch, june, sept and december holidays but little do they all know we needed to come back during the holidays to slog it out.

So what do we do when we are in school during the holidays.

We have meetings, to set targets for the remaining school term. We have workshops. We have to do planning to meet the targets set. We have to source for materials for the rest of the school term. We have also to do stock taking for all the resources we used during the first part of the school term. After all these stock do belong to the government.

So you see... we have lots of stuff to do during the holidays.

And what students do during the holidays?

They go on holidays and they play play play play and play.

When they are back from their mid year break, they forgot how to add 1 + 1.

So what do teachers do again? Re teach and teach and scold and nag.
All for your own good.

Now I am feeling tired again at the mere prospect of having to re teach and teach and scold and nag all because students do not revise their work during the mid year break.

ITs a vicious cycle - you know?
