yoohoo!
A student Q, talked to me on the msn today and it made me realised that there are alot of pupils like her who are actually wasting time during the school holidays.
On last Thursday, the entire school visited the Apple computer plant located in Ang Mo Kio and we were told the benefits of school internships.
What are school internships. It means working during the school holidays for a company. Working gives you insight of what the real world is all about.
when I was doing my a levels, I went to work for a japanese company. From that experience, it has taught me that, sometimes certificate matters really too much in our society.
and because everybody knows this, everybody is starting to upgrade themselves, studying for degrees, second degrees, post graduate degree, masters, even doctorate is so common these days.
So how do you give yourself leverage? How do you make others notice you because you are special?
you gain work experience. and how to gain the experience? By accumulating them when you have your school holidays.
Be it a Macdonald girl/ boy.... or even helping your parents do some simple typing. All these are skills that the school cannot teach you.
However, in singapore there are laws the prevent people from child labour. which means, it is an offence for pupils under 14 years of age to work. If found guilty of hiring such young chlid to work, the employer might even be jailed.
the purpose of this post is to tell you that you should not be wasting time doing nothing because you are going nowhere. Instead, think of creative ways of how you can engage yourself in meaningful task.
For Q, I think she can take to strumming her not so new acoustic guitar, compose a new song, so that she may perform once again when she is in secondary 1.
