A lesson to be learnt

I have been really busy lately, despite so, an incident I witnessed on my way home from school prompts me to write this blog entry.

I was on the bus home from school at about 4 pm when the bus stopped at a T junction. A boy with his brother and or friends were about to cross the road.

The red man was lighted. When the red man is lighted, the logical thing to do is to wait for the green man before you cross the road right?

But the little boy ran with all his might towards the other side of the road.
There was two cars at the junction and was about to drive off at the traffic junction when the boy ran across the road.

He was nearly knocked down by the two cars and as a result, he dropped his slipper in the middle of the road.

Guess what he did?

He saw that his slipper was in the middle of the road, and he ran towards the middle of the road again to retrieve the slipper he dropped.

Isn't that a very dangerous thing to do?

Why do you have to dash across the road when you can just wait for a little longer before the green man would be lighted and you are safe to cross the road?!

If the drivers of the two cars are the junction were not alert and decided to drive off without noticing that the boy was dashing across the traffic junction, what would have happened to the boy?

He probably would have been knocked down by the cars and he probably would not survive the accident.

Think of how your parents would feel when you are involved in such accidents?
It is not easy to deal with such traumatic event.

Remember the other time I told you about my hamster who passed away? I only had the hamster for a short time and I was already so emotionally attached to the hamster. Your parent have had your company for such a long time and if something bad really happens to you, they would have been devastated!

Please take care when crossing the road. And I do know I sound like a nag when I write this entry but I really do not wish to see reports of my student involved in such accidents!

I know its the holidays now, and alot of you are venturing outside the house to the library or to watch sharkboy and lava girl.

If you do not wish your parents to stop you from going out with your friends, it is of extreme importance that you learn how to take care of yourself.

And knowing how to cross the road is the most basic thing you must learn to do.
